How do you measure a year in the life?
One year ago today, Cowgirl Bike Courier opened for business. The first bicycle messenger service to launch in San Jose in over thirty years, the cards were stacked against us in our formative months. Nothing could have prepared us for our first year.
"Oh, that's cute!"
"You mean like in New York?"
"Doesn't email do the same thing?"
Twelve months later, Cowgirl Bike Courier has redefined the bike courier for Silicon Valley.
"You delivered that by bicycle?"
"That was so fast!"
"It's so cool that there are bike messengers in San Jose."
To paraphrase the late John Steinbeck, our first year was that of living violently, eating too much or not at all, sleeping around the clock or missing two nights of sleeping, working too hard and too long in glory, or slobbing around while on standby.
Yet through all we sacrificed, we have accomplished so much more than we could ever have dreamed of.
We would not be here without the love and support of our local community. We have been warmly received into San Jose and the Silicon Valley as a whole, and are forever grateful to all those who have offered their support.
